Monday Happenings

Boy I don’t like crises at work. Today is the one day I get off during the work week (which gives me a lovely 3-day weekend with no appointments), and I got a crisis. What was supposed to be a 30-minute session turned out to be an hour and a half of slight panic and crisis management. Good thing I was with Jenbug…. and that was probably why I was with Jenbug. We saw it coming. I just didn’t expect it to be this soon. I think we handled it well, with the two of us. I think we did okay. Still, it’s exhausting.

I got my birthday presents from Dave early!! Among the gifts he gave me, I received the first season of Golden Girls! WOOHOO!! I’ve been wanting the dvds for a long time and couldn’t bring myself to buy them. He finally got me started. Haha! He said it was against his better judgment, but I swear, this is one of the best television series ever. I love Golden Girls!!

I also ordered Japanese food again. I’m craving some serious asparagus rolls. Mmm. I better go pick up the food now.

Car Insurance

When shopping for car insurance, we each know exactly what we’re looking for. Even when we don’t, we know what we’re generally after, and doing comparisons is so extremely important. Insurance companies have a way of ripping people off who don’t know any better, so you can’t just trust the first guy you see or meet. At gocompare.com, we can compare prices for each car insurance company, and divide parts into what we want, such as rental, breakdown coverage, courtesy cars, 3rd party collisions. With these extra features, the price can go up, so you have to keep in mind what features you want. The basic will only get you so far — everything else may not be included and you may very well need them.

Car insurance is so needed — and the worst to shop for because it’s not so fun at all! Trust me, I know. I’ve been around to all types of insurances to do comparisons, and I think I finally got the one I want! It is when I really need the insurance is when I realize if I have good insurance. You don’t want to wait that long to find out whether or not you’ve made the right choice in your insurance company! Do the comparisons right now and you’ll be more educated and won’t regret it!

Helen Talking

If ever there was a time to meditate, it is now. Yoga is not just the practice of physical exercise or stamina; it is also the practice of the mind and body spiritual connection. I find that my monkey mind — the helenchatter — is a lot stronger than I wanted it to be. While doing the grounding exercises in yoga yesterday — the superman pose and the pigeon and having to hold each for at least 3 minutes — I realized how chattery my mind is. I couldn’t do either without holding still. Even just for 30 seconds, let alone 3 minutes! I got so annoyed at myself because I couldn’t hold these positions, and I realized how impatient my mind is. It is not just the body that can’t take these positions, it is the mind saying, “Oh goodness, this is SO BORING!! Do we HAVE to do this for THREE whole minutes? I don’t want to. I know you don’t want to, either. So why are we doing it?” Meditation is the practice of listening. And boy, my mind sure doesn’t like listening. It likes talking a whole lot more.

Bad Credit

Jenbug and I were talking about credit and what our credit is like. She knows her credit number, and now I’m curious about what mine is. I think mine is pretty darn good, but I want to know the actual number anyway. Bad Credit really sucks, and I know a lot of my friends and even some of my family members could use some help with bad credit. The site helps people with bad credit history get back on their feet, giving strategies and real-life solutions out of their credit debt. That is definitely needed, yo, especially in our society where buying things on credit is deemed necessary for whatever reason!! We need to be better with money we don’t have, people!

Food Issues

Mmmmm.. I just discovered something totally fantastically awesome: asparagus maki rolls. Japanese food kicks butt. So far, not only do I loooove the udon noodles, but now I’m also a fan of agedashi tofu, terriyaki tofu, vegetable gyozas, and asparagus rolls. Man oh man those rolls are SO yummy!! I love asparagus too. Dave took me out to dinner about two nights ago — just because — and today we took Gran out to dinner also. She also loves Japanese food. We had such a good meal. I even had miso soup. Yum. And sticky rice.

Are you hungry yet? Hehe.

Food is so wonderful. Mm mmm mmm. Slowly and surely, I’m getting rid of my weird little food habits. I still have a lot more weird issues with food in general, but it’s not as bad as it used to be. Some of my friends might disagree, but really! I had so many weird obsessions with food that it was hard to take me out anywhere! :)

Honeymoon Plans

Welp, we finally decided on where to go for our deeply delayed honeymoon. Among Hawaii and Mexico (Cancun/Mayan Riviera), which were the two main choices, we were also thinking of caribbean cruises, Europe, and Vietnam. Last night, after a few dozen comparisons online for tickets, hotels, all-inclusive packages versus meal plans, Dave and I decided with the Mayan Riviera. We’re getting our tickets on Tuesday, provided they are still available (I’m assuming they are), and we’re looking at going on November 18, for 7 nights, coming back the follow Sunday night / Monday morning. How exciting! I believe the only thing we’re not really looking forward to there is the high potential of rain and storm, but otherwise the weather is sooo warm — HOT even. It will be beautiful.

Exercise Love

Every time I go to Jen’s and Brandon’s place, I am confronted with a giant elliptical. At first, I didn’t know what ellipticals are, but then I tried it on and I saw the calories I was burning within seconds. I thought that was pretty amusing, and for a brief second, I declared, “I want one too!!!” Heh. I wonder how yoga and exercise on the elliptical would match up, eh? I missed yoga last weekend because we were doing some hardcore renovations on our bathroom, so my body is just aching for some yoga loving.

I got it. Yoga is the equivalent of yourself making love with your soul. “Union,” is what it is called. Screw how far I can bend, screw how beautiful my body may look in a certain look. It is the active practice of appreciating my soul, of uniting with my being, of recognizing my consciousness and nurturing my subconsciousness. Yoga is the pumping, awesome power of gentle lovemaking of the soul. Intertwined with what is reality and what is not, what is fantasy and what is imagined.

I need my yoga.

Bathroom Almost Up!

So, yeah, I went a wee little crazy today with new accessories for our new main hall bathroom. Jenbug and I went to Bath & Beyond and I got some really beautiful bamboo-themed bathroom accessories. They were relatively inexpensive (seeing as how I love looking for and buying discount furniture and accessories), so I went ahead and got all there is to get for this.

Our sink has just been put in and installed. The plumber dude came. Only thing is — the two faucet fixtures are backwards. Haha. Pat put them in wrong, so tomorrow he has to come back and fix them. Grr. :P Well, it’s a little annoying, but we’re gonna get it right eventually, by golly!!

Bedtime. Night, folks.

Missing School

Sometimes I miss being in college. The whole atmosphere of school, and learning, and hyped up students going frenzy-like over silly things like college football tickets, and the library and the anxiety of having to study for midterms and finals. Ah, yes, I miss college. I miss university. I miss being in school. It’s almost time to go back. Just a few more things in place in our life, and I’m going back to get my PhD. Most definitely. I just miss learning on a professional level. I need another challenge, I need more brain stimulation — not to say my job isn’t mind stimulating enough, but seriously — there’s nothing like learning new wonderful things from the experts themselves!

Dusty Home

Our house is an absolute mess. It’s really quite annoying. Plus, it’s extra dusty, too. Why, you ask? Well, it’s because the bathrooms for our renovations aren’t done yet, so everything is all over the place and there are tools everywhere and trash everywhere. It makes me not so anxious to clean, but we have done what we could. We can’t and shouldn’t do too much though, because once everything’s clean, they’re just gonna gut the other bathroom out again and we’d start over. So for two weeks, I just have to suck it up and allow the house to get extra dusty due to the massive amount of work they’re doing, and the sawing (which I hear in the background as I type) and the plywood and the putty drying, etc. etc. etc.

Boy but I gotta tell ya, I’m anxious to get our bathrooms completed!!
