Some More Renos

While redesigning our main bathroom, I ended up getting one of those nifty makeup mirrors to go along with the main mirror because Dave likes using it for shaving in the morning. It works better than the big mirror, where he has to lean in a whole lot more. Also, I think this will be handy when Jen R. comes over for future photo shoots. She asked for one the last time she was here, but we didn’t have one yet at the time.

The en suite bathroom is not yet complete. Removing wallpaper proved to be more of a pain than we thought, what with having to work behind the toilet and behind the sink. After that, Dave is going to paint it (white) and we’ll be ready to go. Can finally put up a mirror and it will be all done. Woo! Too bad I can’t paint. I think I’ll just remove the rest of the wallpaper when I have time so he can take his time painting. I’m kind of anxious to move everything back into that bathroom. It’s our “getting ready” bathroom. Right now we’re using the hallway bathroom, which isn’t bad. It just feels a bit more cluttered in there, though. Well, eventually it will be done. Probably later than sooner. Heh.

Alive and Well

Wow. So I’ve seriously neglected this site. And all my other sites. These early signs of pregnancy are exhausting. We’re getting ready to go away for our honeymoon for a whole week, and I hope I can last through it. In fact, I’m counting on having some fun too! Right now, I’m down with a cold — coughing up phlegm, sore throat, sniffy nose — and I’m trying my best to naturally get over it without having to use any type of cold medicine, even pregnancy-safe ones. However, if I don’t get over this quickly, I’m going to have to resort to medicine. This isn’t comfortable at all, and considering this is our first pregnancy, I’m really just wanting to be as safe as possible for Baby Bean. Safe, and healthy.

I can’t wait until I start to show. It’s really a very amazing process. Bean has a heart now. An actual beating heart inside my uterus! It’s so amazing. The whole idea of it just boggles my mind. Intellectually, I grasp it, but emotionally and mentally, I now understand the concept of “miracle of birth.” What a beautiful, beautiful thing. I talk to Bean all day long, too. We have one-sided conversations. I tell Bean to grow, grow, grow.

And now I’m all tired out just by writing this post.

On a side note, I’ve also been thinking of getting myself a watch. I haven’t worn it in the past because I’ve always depended on my cell phone, but since the power has been going out so much due to high winds and rain, I’m actually thinking of wearing a wrist watch again (perhaps something like this Vacheron Constantin watch?). I think I need one especially for our honeymoon. Otherwise I’d be lost since I’m not bringing my cell phone. Heh.

Introducing Baby Bean

So yes, I’m definitely pregnant. I am hungry all the time. Seriously, all the time. I feel like I’m constantly hungry, even after having a big meal. I’m craving asparagus so badly, it’s not even funny. I’ve been making — yes, literally forcing — my husband, the poor man (who coincidentally, is walking around with his chest proudly puffed out as a result of our pregnancy) to take me out to dinner almost every night to our favorite Japanese restaurant so that I can order three servings of my favorite dish — vegetarian asparagus maki rolls. Man oh man. I eat, and eat, and eat. And when I’m done with my share, I hijack his share. And then I eat some more, and I order some spicy agadashi tofu, with miso soup, and vegetable gyozas and edamane soy beans. I eat some more. And I’m satisfied maybe for another two hours, and then I’m hungry again.

I wake up at 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am feeling like I haven’t eaten in days. So far, I haven’t gotten up to get a snack, but I don’t know how much longer I can stand the middle-of-the-night hunger cravings. Especially for asparagus.

I have no idea how far along I am right now, since my last period came at such a weird time — the day after I got off my birth control. It is speculated that I am 8 weeks along, though I have a feeling I’m less than that. I’m going to get a blood test today and have an ultrasound next week sometime in order to see how far along the baby is. Regardless, it’s got a beating heart now, and Baby Bean is so well loved and so well received, nothing but positive energy can penetrate through the developing amniotic fluid.

I talk to Baby Bean everyday, while I’m driving, while I eat, while I’m watching TV, while I’m at my laptop. I talk to Bean and tell Bean how beautiful Bean is, and how wanted, and how planned, and how my heart swells, along with my eyes full of tears, at the very thought that my body is being harbored by Bean. I tell Bean that the world is going to be that much more beautiful, that much more loving, that much more peaceful, because s/he is now in existence. I rub my belly, which is barely showing at all (though the husband swears that I’m starting to have a little bump). I rub and rub and rub and through the palms of my hands I am physically emitting loving, positive energy so that it can be absorbed through my uterus and into Bean’s little beating heart.

Advice seeking from mothers and expectant mothers and anyone else who may know the answer: I’m sick. I have a sore throat, my throat is all scratchy, and my nose runs a mile a minute. No fever. Drinking lots of fluids. So far, no medication or cold syrup or anything. I’m kind of freaked about taking anything foreign into my body that isn’t organic, fruity, vegetable, or required for Bean’s growth and health. What can I do to help pass this icky cold along? I’m achy, tired, and coughing a lot. HELP!

We love you, Baby Bean. Namaste. Literally.

Houston Rodeo

One of the things I would love to do one day is attend a rodeo. I’ve seen pictures, videos, and even heard stories from those who have been, and I am so curious, and so willing, to join the band wagon and see what the fuss is all about. It must be pretty exhilarating to attend a rodeo show, ESPECIALLY Houston, Texas! I mean, isn’t that what the city is famous for? Some cousins of mine live in Houston, and hopefully when we get a chance to go visit them in the future, we’ll also be able to get Houston Rodeo Tickets while we’re there. The show looks awesome. I would love to see the miraculous acts that these cowboys will perform, and I would love to see how the animals perform as well. Anything to do with people and animals working together in good, clean fun is good for me! 2008 tickets are in, too. And looking at that schedule, there are awesome concerts being played there, including with Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, some of my favorite country singers. Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter, the infamous “Hannah Montana” will also be there. I’ve seen some of her shows on tv from up here, and she is as adorable as a button! Would love to see her in the rodeo show concert!

Bathroom Renos Complete

We finally got both of our bathrooms generally completed. The hallway bathroom is completely renovated — paint job and decor done and all! You can see the pictures at blathersnort.com, our family website. Isn’t it beautiful? We have to still paint the en suite bathroom, but that’s basically all there needs to be done with it. When the new bathroom vanities went in last week, I thought I was going to have a heart attack from all this happiness. They look so darn beautiful! The front bathroom has a marble counter top, and the en suite bathroom has a simple white porcelain vanity top. They both look absolutely gorgeous. Makes me want to have guests over more often. Heh.

Every time I pass by the bathroom in the hall, I have to stop and make a visit, look in, and sigh with satisfaction. I wonder how long it will take for me to get used to having a brand new bathroom.

De-Cluttering

Over the course of the following year, we’re doing a lot of re-arranging and decorating, especially in the two extra bedrooms. One we’re turning into a baby room, and the other we’re turning into a photography/yoga room. It will be lovely. We got rid of a whole bunch of office furniture (yay Craig’s List and Salvation Army!), and finally put together some other office furniture that didn’t look like office furniture (hence, they were able to go into the living room and still be functional, since our laptops are in the dining room area).

I love to de-clutter. It is an obsession of mine that comes and goes throughout every year. Right now, there is a giant pile of “stuff” that I want to get rid of, that is taking too much space (in my head lol). I’m going to be loading them in the car soon and driving them out to Salvation Army or the nearest thrift shop to help simplify our home a bit. Less stuff, less to clean, that’s what I always say.

One could say.. I’m nesting.

Spock

I found a really cool people search engine. It’s pretty awesome. Spock.com is a place where you can search for people according to their names, or their tags. For example, when I went onto the main page for the first time, I entered “green eyes,” just to see what would come up as a result. To my pleasant surprise, the results were quick, and it showed me pages and pages of people with green eyes. Duh. First up was Amanda Bynes. I’m not surprised. Heh. She’s a celebrity. However, the search is also for real people. If you join up and sign yourself in, you can add your own tags, and people can search for you. Also, people can add tags themselves of you. It’s an interesting networking system, though not mimicking other sites like myspace and facebook. It’s almost like a neat people google search or something.

Check out the cool widget according to my search. Isn’t it neat? You can put this on the side of your page, and see what comes up according to popularity. You can also do silly searches like, “big nose,” or “pimples.” Haha. Try it and look what happens! This site can be used for all sorts of things. Not only can you search for your favorite authors, actors, actresses, and other celebrities large and small, you can also search ordinary people all around the world. Hey, take a look at all the presidential candidates! The site has so much to offer, it’s crazy. What a great idea. The web certainly becomes more and more innovative over time, doesn’t it?

I’m going to go ahead and have some fun right now, before work. I gotta go in about 15 minutes but I’m going to do several dorky searches just to see what I can come up with. I suggest you do the same. It’s a fun little game to keep yourself busy!

Tuesday Hours

Man, this extra hour of sleep is doing me so nicely. I feel so incredibly rested, and I feel like I still have the whole day ahead of me. Luckily, today is a relatively easy day. The next few weeks are going to be easy, I think, since I’m warning clients that I won’t be available for a whole week due to our honeymoon. I don’t want any new cases, to be honest with you. Heh. But whatever. That’s unavoidable.

I feel like I have the whole morning to get ready — even though I don’t. Every so often I lose clients and don’t get to see them for weeks at a time. When that happens, although I feel rather guilty not being able to make face-to-face time during that week, or checking in on them, I secretly feel a bit relieved because my workload during that week is a little less. I have a feeling this is one of those weeks.

Husband’s birthday is coming up. In 5 days, in fact. Today I’m going shopping with Jenbug to buy some pressies for him. Yay!

Vertical Blinds

So now that we have the major parts of our bathrooms renovated, we’re going to move onto other renovations in our home. The next stop is the kitchen, I believe, and possibly the back yard. However, even before we do those bigger renovations, we want to tackle the smaller ones, which includes getting new blinds and curtains. I’m really interested in getting these awesome vertical blinds — they make the home look so much more elegant. Vertical Blinds are really in right now. I see them all over the place, and in model homes they are particularly represented with elegance and class. They would definitely add value to the home, in terms of real estate jargon. Plus, the faux wood ones are so beautiful and they match our style so well (we love wooden furniture!). I will speak with Dave about these blinds. They’re not that expensive either!

Clean Home & Honeymoon

Ah this weekend felt so nice — I was finally given the opportunity to CLEAN HOUSE. After all the dust and debris from the bathroom renovations, the construction part of it all was finally done. All the trash have been taken away, all the tools and crap and drywall stuff have been removed. It left us with a very dusty and dirty home. Vacuuming after 3 weeks of not being able to really felt awesome. My lungs even feel like they can breathe a little easier. I did four loads of laundry, including washing all the bedsheets, blankets, and pillow cases. That means FOUR blankets, cuz that’s how much we sleep with during the winter.

Yes, I know it sounds all very boring, but I’ve become quite domestic. I think I’m nesting, to tell you the truth. Hopefully that means some good news soon.

In less than 2 weeks, we’re going on our official honeymoon to the Mayan Riviera. WOOHOO!! Can’t possibly tell you how excited we both are. We’re very anxious. This is our first airplane trip together too. Our first big trip together. As a couple, period. After 8 years of being together, we finally get to take a trip together that’s more than just a weekend stay somewhere. It’ll be nice.
