Smorty

Perfect. I am ecstatic to introduce my blog to smorty.com, a newer and more awesome version of PaidPerPost. They introduce advertisers to bloggers, and vice versa. It’s a great way to get to know your readers and your audience, especially if you are an advertiser. It’s also a great way to expand your business. It’s more dependable than PPP, and it’s a lot less stressful, too. I like smorty, and I think I’m going to stick around, for sure. If you’re interested in getting paid to blog, and you’re interested in choosing what you blog about (aren’t we all?), then smorty is definitely for you. I’m happy to join the team. Who wouldn’t love to just get paid to blog?! So this is my first entry for Smorty. The more I look around, the more I realize how durable and supportive they are. This is a really good site for both advertisers and bloggers. It’s a great way to expand your business, as well as bring some extra money in as a blogger. Plus, you only write about the sites you choose to write about — they don’t force you to write about anything you don’t want to, or support anything you don’t want to. It’s a good little site.

A Busy Saturday

So I finished the Christmas newsletter that would go with our Christmas cards. I’m only making about 20 Christmas cards, so not everyone will get a Christmas card this year (they’re so labor intensive and my body aches after just making a few). However, most people will be getting a newsletter, so that will suffice. I like doing newsletters, actually. This is our first. I’ll post it up somewhere after all is done so you guys can take a look. Those who won’t get one in the mail will get one hopefully in their inbox around Christmas.

So many things to think about for the holidays! Hopefully, everyone’s holiday season is going smoothly so far, and no big emergencies need to be dealt with. This time of year should be calm, quiet, and beautiful. I know someone who has to think about getting a truck accident lawyer this year, and that really sucks. It’s a rotten way to end a year, but hopefully he can put that behind him before the new year and start 2008 afresh. :)

Okay, I’m going to take a shower, do some laundry, maybe do a bit of vacuuming, and then work on a couple of exit summaries for work. Woohoo. Heh. Hopefully Sunday will be better laid back than today.

My Baby Bean Body

So I’m starting to gain a bit of weight. Hehe. About a pound a week. That’s a lot for me. I finally hit the 100 pound mark about two weeks ago. Heheh. My tum-tum is starting to show too. I heard Baby Bean’s heartbeat today, and I gotta tell ya — it’s the MOST AMAZING THING EVER, YO!! I am so totally ecstatic and excited and happy about all of my bodily changes — the weight gain, the little tummy bump, the thicker hair, and yes, even all of the other icky stuff like the odd break-outs (wtf, I haven’t gotten pimples there since I was 15!) and the occasional nausea now and dizziness. My motto is, “Whatever has to happen to me for Baby Bean’s health and safety, GO FOR IT.” I don’t care. Give me all ya got, universe. Everything that happens to me because of Baby Bean is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. I am just reveling in this awesome experience. This is such a miracle.

I often wonder about people who go to so many odd means to find their “perfect” body, from weird temporary diets to even taking bodybuilding supplements, but hey, whatever floats their boat. I’m not one to judge (at least, not anymore). Whatever they want, I’m fine with. I am just so happy that the human body is so elastic and flexible. Our body is so amazing, isn’t it?

Life is Good, Money is Not

So I’ve finally started to make Christmas cards. I’ve taken a bit of the easy way out, and it’s proven to be a lot easier and more manageable than I thought. Of course, this just means that I’ll only be sending cards out to a very select few, since I don’t have a lot of time to make that many, especially if I want to do a newsletter to go along with the card too. Just family and a few select friends, is all I’m going to do.

I am fast running out of ink. My color ink is completely gone, so I can no longer print out colored photos or anything in color. I had one extra black ink left in my drawer, which I forgot about, so that was good. Other than that, it’s all done with for me. I can’t afford much of anything else until pay day, which is the end of December. Doesn’t do me much good, let me tell ya. :P

These days, life is taken up by a familiar drive to be well, to soak up the weather regardless of what it is (it is cold as heck, if you’re curious), to accept whatever comes my way, to be okay and to be relaxed. I am as stress-free as I want to be right now, despite the daily stresses I go through. In one ear, out the other. I can’t afford to be stressed right now. I am happy as a clam. Life is good. :)

And I’m hungry. Food = yummy.

TV and Exhaustion

When I was a kid, I LOVED watching television shows with captioning service provided. I have no idea why, really, but at least it really helped me learn to read. Isn’t that weird? Nowadays, if we’re watching a tv show or a movie, and the captions are on, we have to turn them off. At first, I didn’t mind too much, since Dave found them annoying. Now, I kinda find them annoying as well. Go figure. Sometimes I’m curious though, and put them back on, especially when I’m watching soap operas. They say who’s saying what, and they give names to the characters if you don’t know they are. Heh. It’s kind of useful, at least.

I think I’m starting to get tired again. I feel exhausted all of a sudden. Man oh man. I need to get some more paperwork for work done here. At this rate, it’s going to be a very very long week of sleeping on and off, and finishing paperwork in between. Oi.

Car Angel

There’s this agency that I heard of called Car Angel, who make videos for children (Christian-based) by using money donated from car donations from people like me and you. It’s a really neat program for Christian families and education for their children. An example of these videos is below.

While I’m not a Christian myself, I realize the importance religion and spirituality play in a lot of people’s lives. Regardless of the viewpoint, I value that Car Angel can be so creative in how they use the kindness of strangers and ordinary people like me and you to educate those who want to be educated on this specific religion. The videos are very, very kid-friendly. Very Sunday-school feeling to them, and they’re kinda cute. Heh. And you know, if you have a car you don’t use anymore (some of us have several sitting in our yard!), what better way to get rid of them? It’s better to give them to someone you know will get good use out of them, than to have these cars sit in your yard forever or be collected on dump sites, right?

Practicing Parenting

So I’m starting to feel better about the first trimester. I’m 9 weeks and a couple of days along now, which means only about 3 more weeks to go before I hit the second trimester and we’re in the safe zone, more or less. Baby Bean is still making me nauseous, but not as often — more at night than in the daytime now, which I definitely prefer (since I can veg out at night and just go to sleep early). My aversion to food is starting to slide just a bit, that I’ve noticed. Yesterday, I had my first good-tasting meal in about a month and a half, as far as I can remember. The food actually tasted okay, and not like plastic. I haven’t had any cravings yet, but today I had cravings for mangoes. Luckily, I had gone out to get mangoes yesterday, so I had rice and mangoes for breakfast. Yum.

We’re talking a lot to Baby Bean. Not sure if Bean can hear us at this point, but I’m guessing the vibrations of the noise are still making their way to my uterus. Heh. Conversations are as follows:

Dave: Baby Bean, this is Daddy speaking. You get to hear Mommy a lot, but you hardly hear Daddy yet, so here I am.
Helen: Yup, that’s Daddy.
Dave: Baby Bean, just remember: Daddy is always right. Always check with Daddy first. Mommy doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
Helen: Bean, sweetie, remember that Daddy bullshits a lot too.
Dave: NOoOOooo, Daddy is ALWAYS right, Bean. ALWAYS!! And Daddy loves you.
Helen: *whispers to Bean* Baby Bean, we’ll talk about this later when Daddy’s not around. I’ll set you straight.

Yeah, we’re silly. We’re gonna be funny parents. :P

Maternity Shopping

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this – soon, I will need some maternity clothes. Wow. Maternity clothes. I never thought that would actually happen to me. I’m so looking forward to it. Actually, the weird thing is, I’ve been gaining a bit of weight over the last month or so. I guess that’s not so “weird,” given that I’m pregnant and all, but it’s weird because I don’t feel like I’m eating any more than I used to. I’m starting to show just a tad, though no one but Dave can tell cuz no one but Dave ever looks my naked tummy. Heh. I’m measuring my tummy too, and in the last month, it’s grown an inch. I can’t wait until I start showing a lot, when everyone can tell I’m pregnant. I can’t wait till Baby Bean inside me is as big as a house (or preferably, a watermelon, at most).

I already have a few baby doll shirts that could very well resemble maternity clothing, but I have nothing in the pants area. Jenbug is very excited and anxious to go shopping with me. Heh.

Hitting the Shops

Oh my GOSH I can’t believe I haven’t even started Christmas shopping yet, and it’s already almost mid-December. This is bad, very bad I tell you. Gar. I think I will start the shopping process by going to a discount online store, and see what they got. If you want to, too, click here. I hear they have a lot of really good deals on a lot of awesome gifts. I wish there was one place where we can just buy all the gifts all at once. One stop shop. I’ve tried it in the past, but it never happens because people like different things. So I guess the best way to tackle this Christmas list is just to go ahead and DO it. Hit the mall, shop till I drop (or get nauseous and exhausted lol), and then go home and survey my damage.

Black Outs

A few days ago, our power went off. In fact, it’s been doing that a lot, due to the windy and snowy weather. Now, it’s a lot better, but for a while, it was getting very annoying. During those times, I really envy people with emergency generators… as long as they don’t go out too. Then people would have to worry about power supply repair and stuff, on top of the regular black outs. Hopefully, though, all our black outs are done with for this year. :P
