White House Talk

Yay for the weekend! So this weekend is going to prove very busy. Tomorrow I’m going back into the B’ham to vote for Obama in the caucus. Jodith reminded me of it. I thought it was next weekend for some reason. I hate making a trip down there just for something little (even though technically it’s not “little”… but still), but if I don’t go, I’d feel forever guilty for not participating. If I don’t vote, I don’t have the right to complain. And you know how much I love complaining about the crazy politics of our country and how it’s going down the sh*thole and stuff. Crazy policies and promises. They all sound alike, but at the end of the day, you have to vote. That’s where it starts.

I’ve thought about it long and hard, who I would like to run for the Democratic team. I wouldn’t even call myself a “Democrat,” given that I’m really Independent or even Green. I would love to belong to either party, but seeing as how neither of those two parties would ever have a chance in hell of actually winning any presidential election, I have to choose the best of two evils because we live under a two-ladder regime. The Democratic party is only slightly better than the Republican party, in my opinion. At the end of the day, we’re still faced with the same problems: no healthcare for the poor, war after war, the working class being screwed over, immigration continuing to be a ridiculously unsolved problem, foreign policy sucking as always. Who cares if Clinton is in, or Bush? Are we really going to pull out of Iraq any day soon? As far as I can remember, I thought that war was already “won” a few years ago? What the hell? Then why are people still dying and why are our soldiers still shipped off?

I remember when I was in high school, not too long ago, I heard that Hillary Clinton wanted universal healthcare for all, especially the children. “It takes a village.” I come from a very poor background. We were on welfare at one point. Getting healthcare was hard. We had to choose which illnesses were warranted to go to the doctor’s. We almost never went to the emergency room, because we knew we could never pay for it. Luckily, we were a relatively healthy family. I really liked Hillary’s effort at getting universal healthcare for all. But that was …. what, more than 10 years ago? What has happened since then? Nothing. As first lady, nothing. As senator, nothing. As a politician, nothing. I’m still struggling to get basic healthcare for a lot of my clients at work. Still nothing. I’m starting to get discouraged that Hillary can do anything. At this point, I suspect that she is just all talk, like the rest of ‘em. I’m anxious for something new, for someone new. I’m hoping Obama doesn’t disappoint.

See, the thing is, I don’t care of Hillary is a hermaphrodite. I’m not voting for her, unless she is the only option against the other party. If I vote for Hillary simply because she’s a woman, it’d be like voting for Obama simply because he’s a minority. Or voting for Condoleeza Rice because she’s a woman (that woman scares me too). Or saying.. I’m not voting for Hillary because she has big hair and Obama is hotter. The mere reason of having a vagina doesn’t cut it for me. So far, I like what Obama has to say. Hopefully he can live up to his promises. I haven’t found proof that any president has yet, so we’ll see.

Enough with the ramble. Hope you’re all doing well. I’m looking forward to the day we kick Bush out of the White House. :D

Another Week, Another Dollar

Ah, another Monday is here, another week. This week doesn’t look so bad, but I have a feeling it’s going to get busier. I know I’m getting a couple of new cases in this week, so I will have to accommodate to that. It’s going to be interesting. This weekend was fruitful. I cleaned the house (minus the vacuuming), and tried out our new nifty paper shredder. It came in the mail last week, and yesterday I spent a couple of hours (yes, HOURS) shredding through old receipts and old bills that are no longer needed. I came up with two large garbage bags of shredded papers. Dude. It doesn’t even look like I’ve made a dent. I can’t believe I’ve been hoarding all this junk.

This week, I’m dealing with some health issues with clients. I don’t think it’s anything serious (like fibromyalgia or something), but still, I want to make sure all my clients are comfortable and taken care of. It’s part of my job. I love it.

Have a good week, folks. Till the next update!

Good Saturday

Thank goodness it’s Saturday! Woo! This week has been good, though busy. I got a lot of work done at work — outside of just the counseling and seeing clients part. Now that Saturday is here, I’m anxious to get the house cleaned up again. Luckily, it’s not as bad as it has been in the past, since I’ve been keeping it clean over the week. Our Roomba robo vac kind of broke, so I’m getting it fixed. In the meantime, there’s no way I’m lugging and pushing our giant regular vacuum around. It can wait until we get our Roomba back, darn it. In the meantime, I’m just keeping everything else clean — dusting, laundry, kitchen, bathrooms.

Since the Sarah Connor Chronicles of Terminator came out as a show on TV, I’ve been watching the movie series. I’ve gotten done with Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. I still need to watch Terminator 3. I remember watching it when I was really little, with my father, who loves action movies. However, I remember most of the action and very little of the plot, which makes the current tv show very confusing for me. This should be swell. The second Terminator movie was really ridiculously long. It was good, but goodness — any movie over 2 hours should be banned from civilization. Haven’t they heard of short attention span?! :P

Okay I’m going to go ahead and clean the kitchen now. Have a good weekend, everyone!
