A Late Start

Wow. So I woke up today at the latest I’ve ever woken up in a long time. 10am. Yeah that’s pretty late for me. I’m having a tough time sleeping at night. Or rather, falling asleep at night. I didn’t really start to fall asleep and get into a good, restful state until around 2am. But then I woke up again at 4am and couldn’t get back to sleep until 6am. By then, I was just so exhausted that I slept until 10am. Oi. Good thing I didn’t have any early morning appointments today. I’m going to try to spend the rest of the day just hanging out and doing some paperwork for work. I have one late evening appointment, but that’s about it. At this point, I want to just have roller shades all around our house so that it looks “dark” even in the daytime so I can get some darn sleep!

Our rocking chair for Bean came in a couple of days ago. Dave put it together yesterday, and I gotta say — it is sch-weeet. It’s mighty comfortable. Dave tried to say it was the “Daddy and Bean Chair – No Mommies Allowed.” I don’t think that’s going to hold very well. :P We also got a really awesome reclining high chair for Bean, from our sister in law. It’s very cute. Only down side is that it’s plastic, but I guess we can’t avoid that 100% through. As long as her toys aren’t plastic, and her bottles and eating stuff aren’t plastic, I think we’ll do fine.

Okay I’m going to make breakfast. Bean’s getting antsy. She wants to eat. Okay okay. I do too. I’m starving.

Hey, I think I came here from ’scribblehoney’, anyway, whats wrong with plastic?
And, if the bottles arent made of plastic then what else could they be made of?
I dont mean to sound rude, just curious :)

Plastic leak toxins, to put it plainly. Hehe. I just did a really quick google search with your question, “What’s wrong with plastic?” and here’s the link to the first result that showed up: http://www.grassrootsinfo.org/plastics.html

We’re going with glass bottles. Breakable, but a lot more safe in the long run. :)

Wow, I had no idea.
I didnt even know that you could get glass bottles.
The main reason I ask is that Im due in about 2 weeks and I wondered about the alternatives. I wont need bottles for the first few months though as I will be feeding baby myself. But its worth looking into for after Im done nursing.
Thanks :)

Yeah I’m planning on nursing the baby myself too! Wow, congratulations on your baby!! How awesome!! There are lots of alternatives. I just ended looking them up cuz we both want to be as safe as possible for Bean (both environmentally and humanly). Plastic toys we’re also trying to stay away from, so we’re hoping for more wooden toys. Though more expensive, we decided we’re going to make sacrifices elsewhere to afford the safest for her. Not everyone can do that, but we’re glad we’ll be able to. Good luck with your lovely little darling!!
