Adjusting to Finances

Dude, I seriously need to get back to work and make some more money. I don’t like that my savings is dwindling with this maternity leave. Times like this, I really wish the U.S. was as forward thinking as other parts of the world, where parental leave is not only encouraged but compensated for. Dave is getting parental leave, but having only one income is still a little hard on our household right now, especially adjusting to a newborn baby. I’m going back to work on a very part time basis, just enough to get some money so that we can pay bills and have a little left over to save for. I don’t like having to dip into my rainy day nest egg like this. I’ve been going kind of crazy buying little odds and ends for Lily Bean, from baby clothes to trying out different sorts of diapering systems. Times are rough, but they’re not too bad, still. Oh well, we’ll get through it.

Speaking of baby clothes, I am so addicted to getting Lily Bean some baby gowns. I’ve been looking everywhere, but I haven’t found any that I like. Apparently, they’re not so popular anymore. They should be, because they look so darn cute on babies, and they make diaper-changing so much easier — no clips, zippers, or snaps to fondle with while the poor baby is tired or fussy. I have also been looking for baby leg warmers that would fit newborns. Most of the ones she has are so big for her, she can’t wear them yet. It sucks. The search goes on!
