Meet our management team
Diane joined Chilliwack Community Services as its Executive Director in June of 2016.
Prior to that, Diane was owner of a management consulting firm specializing in the non-profit sector (Janzen & Associates Management Consulting) for close to 15 years. She also served as Director of Education for Seabird Island Band for six years and worked as Regional Manager, Alberta Region, with the Federal Department of Canadian Heritage for a decade.
Diane has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and History from the University of Winnipeg and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management from Royal Roads University, where she was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for highest academic achievement in the program.
Diane has been an active community member for many years. She has served as a School Trustee and Chair of the Board of Education and as a City Councillor with the City of Chilliwack. While at the City of Chilliwack, Diane was Chair of the Social Issues Committee and worked with a dedicated committee of community organizations to establish the Health Contact Centre, a centre which addresses homelessness through housing, health and other support services. In addition, she has been active as a Board member and volunteer with the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, the Chilliwack Stingrays Swim Club, Ann Davis Transition Society, and Chilliwack Community Services and has been an active Rotarian.
Diane is married to Doug Janzen and they have two daughters. Diane and Doug live in Yarrow on a farm that has been in the Janzen family since the 1930s.
Deputy Executive Director
Director: Early Years, Family Services, Therapy Services
Helen joined Chilliwack Community Services as a director in December, 2017. She comes with over 15 years of post-graduate experience in combined clinical, frontline, and leadership work. Her background is in mental health clinical therapy and she’s worked in a variety of settings with homeless youths and families, child protection and court, recovery from abuse and neglect, trauma work, severe mental illness and psychosis recovery. She has also ran groups that specialize in parenting, psychoeducation, anxiety, and recreation. Helen’s area of passion is in trauma work, early intervention, outreach, and family work. She has been interviewed and published as an expert in the field in the Fraser Health Pulse magazine, CBC Radio, and the Chilliwack Progress newspaper.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English from the University of California – Irvine, and a Master of Education in Counselling and Education from Western Washington University. She is passionate in community and healthcare work with youth, young adults, and families. She lives in Harrison Hot Springs with her husband and their two little girls, where they enjoy nature at their fingertips.
Director: Operations, Immigrant Services, Support Services
Suzanne has been with Chilliwack Community Services since May 1998. During her tenure she has worked in a number of different programs and at various CCS sites. Suzanne has been Operations Director since 2005.
Director: Youth Services, Housing, Training & Education, Senior Services
Kate holds a degree in Sociology and Human Services, bringing a wealth of passion, knowledge, and experience in community collaboration, youth vulnerabilities and homelessness, and partnership engagement. Kate joined CCS in 2015, working as a youth worker in Youth Services and then became its Coordinator. She has been Director since September 2019.
Chief Financial Officer
Bill Sheridan is our Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He first joined CCS as an active board member and served as Treasurer of the Board for over 10 years. In 2016, Bill became CCS’s CFO, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, passion, and experience in fiscal ad financial accountability.
Gail Tolsma has served as CCS’s Finance Manager since 2019, where she manages the daily financial operations that bind programs to their individual contracts. Gail has been with the agency since 2000, serving in our finance department.
